3 INDICTED FROM LOUISIANA CONSTRUCTION COMPANY

IRS TAX FRAUD CONSTRUCTION

SES Construction Consulting Group and Global Technical Solutions Charged With Falsifying Tax Returns

Three residents in New Orleans, Louisiana have been charged with conspiracy to defraud the IRS. Defendant, Matthew Reck, was also charged with conducting false claims and statements to federal agents while Dawn Farrell Ruiz and David Farrell were additionally charged with assisting in the operation of false returns.

Court documents have revealed that from 2011 to June 2019, Reck, Ruiz, and Farrell have under reported their individual compensations thus falsifying their tax returns. Reck and Ruiz also filed inaccurate corporate tax returns for the SES Construction Consulting Group and Global Technical Solutions of which Reck both co-owned until December 2015. Reck, Ruiz, and Farrell furthermore paid some workers “under the table”, failing to report employee’s entire compensation to the IRS. During interviews with federal agents, Reck untruthfully stated that he had no connection nor communication with the SES Construction and Global accountants regarding the business’ tax returns.

The three defendants are scheduled in court on April 9, 2021 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. If found guilty, a maximum of five years in prison for conspiracy will be enacted. Reck faces an additional incarceration time of five years because of him supplying federal agents with false statements. Farrell and Ruiz face an added on three years for their assistance in the false tax return scandal.

This announcement was made by Assistant Attorney General Stuart M. Goldberg of the Justice Department’s Tax Division and by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Louisiana. The case is being investigated by the IRS criminal unit. Attorneys William Montague and Parker Tobin of the Justice Department’s Tax Division alongside Nicholas Moses, the Assistant U.S. Attorney of the Eastern District of Louisiana will be prosecuting the case.

An indictment is merely an allegation and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
