AVANGRID Signs PLA With Massachusetts Building Trades Unions For Off-Shore Wind Construction

          Orange, CT- Avangrid, a renewable energy company headquartered in Orange, CT, is on their way towards becoming a leading forefront in transforming how the United States produces and utilizes energy. On July 16^th, Avangrid’s energy division, Avangrid Renewables, announced partnership with Massachusetts Building Trades and several local construction unions. The company’s joint project, Vineyard Wind 1, has also entered the Project Labor Agreement.

          Vineyard Wind 1 is an 800-megawatt offshore wind project set to break ground at the end of 2021. Avangrid Renewables, alongside the corporation’s new partners, are excited to create the country’s first large-scale offshore wind enterprise.

          With the construction of Vineyard Wind 1 comes standard policies and safety requirements. Vineyard Wind 1’s contract, summoned by the Project Labor Agreement, ensures that reasonable, family-supporting salaries will be provided to all employees as well as prime workplace protections to open Vineyard Wind 1 as scheduled. 

          Avangrid Renewables is widely known as a significant developer and operator of onshore wind and solar power. The company is also a partner on Connecticut’s emerging Park City Wind, and Revolution Wind. Kitty Hawk Offshore Wind is also being developed by Avangrid Renewables in the mid-Atlantic, where over 2,500 MW of clean energy will be transmitted to North Carolina and Virginia. The company is also active on projects in New Jersey and New York making it the primary political player on the East Coast currently.
