Challenger Job Cuts Report
United States of America – Job cuts disclosed by US-based corporations increased marginally by 0.1 percent month over month but fell 76% year over year to 19,064 in January 2022, as employers battled employee resistance to vaccination.
Around 5,757 layoffs occurred as a result of employers firing employees who refused to take the COVID-19 vaccine, increasing the total number of job losses due to vaccine refusal to 13,931 since June 2021.
Health care companies reported the biggest job cuts (5,053), followed by those in warehousing (3,051), services (1,786), entertainment & recreation (1,691), and consumer product manufacturing (1,432).
