DANISH SECTION OF BALTIC PIPE RESUMES CONSTRUCTION OF NATURAL GAS LINE
COPENHAGEN – The Danish portion of the Baltic Pipe, which will connect Poland to Norwegian gas reserves, has resumed construction after a 33-month pause, according to Danish grid operator Energinet on Tuesday. The pipeline was supposed to lessen Poland’s dependency on Russian gas, however it was suspended in May 2019 owing to environmental concerns.
Energinet said it had got a new environmental license and that it still expected the pipeline to be partially active by October 1 this year and fully operational by January 1, 2023, with a capacity of up to 10 billion cubic metres.
