HASKELL’s Venture Arm DYSRUPTEK and IPSUM Announce Investment Partnership For It’s ProPlanner Scheduling Cloudware

Jacksonville, Florida – Dysruptek, the venture arm, of HASKELL confirm a strategic investment in Latin American con-tech company IPSUM.

IPSUM, a Latin American startup now headquartered in the United States, was one of the region’s earliest construction technology startups. Their con-tech program, ProPlanner, is a collaborative SaaS that has been utilized on over 800 projects of various types in over 12 countries and has now expanded to the United States through a partnership with Haskell (a top 100 ENR contractor)

IPSUM was named to BuiltWorlds‘ Top 50 List for the year 2021, and CB Insights named them one of the top 100 startups impacting the construction sector a few years ago.

The startup raised $1 million in 2018 from Manutara Ventures and Cemex, the Mexican conglomerate and global leader in the building materials industry, through its corporate venture capital arm Cemex Ventures, and had previously raised capital from Wayra, Telefónica‘s corporate venture capital arm.

IPSUM launched ProPlanner in 2016 with the goal of assisting construction organizations in migrating away from MS Project and Excel files and towards a cloud-based, collaborative SaaS.

“Scheduling and planning on-site hasn’t changed much in the last 10 years. There’s lots of waste in manual processes and legacy software solutions are still the go-to solution for almost every company in the industry. We are transforming the way this is done, improving processes, making it easier for teams in the jobsite, more collaborative and giving them insights and analytics in real-time”, says Franco Giaquinto, IPSUM’s CEO

The startup’s platform enables all project stakeholders (owners, general contractors, and subcontractors) to stay on top of the Master Schedule, create Lookaheads, screen constraints, and create reliable Weekly Work Plans, while also providing each stakeholder with their own dashboard with real-time analytics on performance, progress, productivity, and morbidity.

This new Dysruptek investment contributes to Haskell’s CVC’s strategic goal.

“We are very excited to partner with IPSUM and their software ProPlanner on their journey. Franco has shown his ability to build a great solution with an even better team.”, says Cutler Knupp, director of strategy and technology investments at Dysruptek, CVC which also is an LP of contech venture capital firm Brick & Mortar and a partner in Cemex Venture’s Startup Competition. “…their success in the LatAm region is proof of their ability to execute. Haskell has experienced the benefits of using ProPlanner first hand on our projects”, added Knupp.

IPSUM developed their software ProPlanner in a web platform and also within a smartphone app to bring a full vision of the planning and scheduling process in a construction project.

“One of the main problems we’re solving today is the lack of coordination and collaboration between high-level schedules built by schedulers with the Owners approval, and what’s really going on the jobsite and what Supers are working on a daily basis. We’re trying to connect them into one platform that has everyone on the same page and also guides them into building reliable and effective work plans. The final result is an ongoing process of continuous improvement, fed constantly by beautiful dashboards with insights of what’s going well and what’s not and who’s performing better or worse.”, says Franco Giaquinto.

Haskell is a diversified Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) firm with the breadth and depth to service customers in over a dozen distinct industries with an annual revenue of more than $1 billion. The global Haskell team leverages 1,600+ architects, engineers, constructors and administrative professionals. With 20+ offices across the US, Latin America and Asia Haskell offers comprehensive AEC services via a number of preferred delivery methods, ranging from design-build to full EPC.
