HUD TO BEGIN $3.4 BILLION FUND ROLL OUT

MEMBERS POSE FOR SAN BERNARDINO PARADISE PARK CDBG PROJECT

The Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) will be delivering a grant of $3.4 billion to states, cities, and counties in order to provide housing and a livable environment through the expansion of economic possibilities specifically for low-income persons and families.

In Mid-February, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (also known
as HUD) announced a nationwide funding proposal of $5.5 billion dollars. Such money will be funneled
into local programs throughout the country in an effort to provide affordable housing, economic
opportunity and prosperity, community development, and aid to the homeless. The ultimate goal is to
provide homes and crucial services to individuals in areas lacking such support especially during these
uncertain times in the U.S.

$1.3 billion will be coming from the HOME Investment Partnerships Program. States and localities in
partnership with local nonprofit organizations will utilize that funding for buying, building, and
manifesting affordable rent or home ownership to low-income individuals.

The Housing Opportunities for Persons with Aids (HOPWA) will supply a $387 million grant to provide
rental housing assistance for those and their families diagnosed with HIV/AIDS.

$290 million coming from the Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG) will be utilized to fund homeless
shelters and related social and homeless prevention programs.

$25 million from The Recovery Housing Program (RHP) will let states and the District of Columbia
establish stable housing for individuals who are recovering from substance abuse.

Combined, these programs will provide funding to thousands of programs in all 50 states alongside the
District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam, and the Northern
Mariana Islands.
