Infrastructure Bill Passes Congress
Washington, D.C. – After months of tense negotiations, the House of Representatives passed a $1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill by a vote of 228 to 206, completing a key component of President Biden’s domestic agenda and securing a political victory for Democrats.
Significant investments in roads, bridges, railways, and broadband internet are included in the measure.
It passed late Friday night on a largely party-line vote, with 13 Republicans joining 215 Democrats in favor.
However, six progressive Democrats voted against the bill because a larger social spending measure failed to garner enough support for a Friday floor vote.
