INVITATION TO BID Sealed proposals for the performance of a pavement evaluation, using Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) testing of the pavement and other work incidental thereto on and in the general vicinity of the proposed project for I-91/I-691/CT-15 Interchange Improvements in the Cities of Meriden and Middletown, Connecticut, will be received by GM2 Associates, Inc., Consulting Engineer, until 4:00 PM EST on April 22, 2021.Please Contact Mr. Tony Margiotta, P.E. at Tony.Margiotta@gm2inc.com to receive Notice to Bidders and Invitation to Bid, which contain proposed bid sheet and other project specific information. GENERAL WORK DESCRIPTION AND WORK AREAThe project work is located on the I-91/I-691/Route 15 Interchange in Middletown and Meriden, CT. The roadways consist primarily of composite pavement (asphalt concrete over Portland cement concrete (PCC)) with some areas of full depth asphalt pavement. Underlying PCC slabs are estimated to be 40 feet long and 12’ and 14’ wide. The FWD Vendor will perform testing at selected locations of transverse joints to evaluate joint load transfer efficiency. Additionally, mid-slab and corner testing will be performed to determine overall pavement strength and subgrade soil strength.
