INVITATION FOR BIDDERS (IFB #21-0017) DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS – TOWN OF WEST SPRINGFIELD, MA The Town of West Springfield invites sealed bids from contractors for a Pedestrian Sidewalk Construction Project. Proposed work activities include performing all operations; furnishing all necessary labor, materials and equipment required for the sidewalks, ramps, crosswalks, utilities, and related work on Amostown Road and Pease Avenue in West Springfield. Detailed specifications must be obtained at: http: //townofwestspringfield.o rg/government/departme nt/finance/procurement- bids/bids Or https://ww w.bidnetdirect.com/massa chusetts/townof westsprin gfield Bids shall be enclosed in a sealed envelope, endorsed with the name and business address of the bidder and marked BID#21-0017 – Amostown Road & Pease Avenue Sidewalk Project, delivered personally or by mail, on or before 10:00 AM on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 to: Robert Colson, DPW Director, Town of West Springfield, Municipal Office Building, Municipal Finance Office, 26 Central Street, West Springfield, MA. No bids will be accepted after the above stated date and time. If the Governor’s Order imposing limitations on the number of people that may gather still exists OR the Municipal Office Building is closed to the public, no bidders will be allowed to physically attend the bid opening. The bid opening will be conducted by remote participation in the following manner: Zoom info will be included in the Bidding Materials All bids for this project are subject to the provisions of General Laws, (Ter. ED.) Chapter 30, Sec. 39M, et seq. Each bid must be accompanied by a Bid Bond from a licensed surety company, or a Certified check, or a Treasurer’s or Cashier’s check in the amount of five (5%) percent of the base bid payable to the Town of West Springfield. Performance and Labor & Materials Payment Bonds, each in the amount of 100% of the Contract Price, will be required of the Successful Bidder. The successful bidder will also be required to furnish workmen’s compensation insurance and public liability insurance. Attention is called to the minimum wage rates to be paid on the work as determined by the Commissioner of Labor and Industries under the provisions of General Laws, Chapter 149, Sections 26 to 27D, inclusive. The Town of West Springfield reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive any informality in bidding if it be in the public interest to do so. The successful bidder will be required to furnish workmen’s compensation insurance, public liability insurance, and a payment bond, as set forth in the specifications. The successful bidder will also be required to adhere to all Massachusetts guidelines and procedures for all construction sites and workers as they apply to this project.
