Notice is hereby given that the Porter Co. Department of Development & Storm Water Management is seeking sealed bids for the project designated as Preventative Maintenance of Porter County Bridge No. 272 & 273. Porter County Bridge No. 272 & 273 carries Willowcreek/Crisman Road Bypass over two different CSX Transportation, Inc. Railroad crossings. The bridges are located approximately 0.04 miles north of Portage Ave., and 0.2 miles north of Portage Ave., respectively, in the city of Portage in Section 12, Township 36 North, Range 7 West, in Portage Township, Porter County, Indiana.

The preventative maintenance work shall consist of sounding the existing bridge deck, repairing any unsound surfaces with partial depth patching, steel shot blasting to ensure proper bonding between the treatment system and concrete substrate, constructing polymeric thin deck overlay, replacement of existing north and south bridge approach slabs and sidewalks, removing and replacing existing north and south “SS” Joint with pre-compressed foam joint, removing existing “SQ” drain extension, and replacing removed drain extension with reinforced thermosetting resin pipe or cast-iron drain pipe. The existing railing may be temporarily removed and reset as necessary to accommodate the work.

The project will also include maintenance of traffic via lane restrictions on Willowcreek/Crisman Road. The work includes the carrying out of all duties and obligations and the furnishing of all labor, materials, tools, equipment, and other incidentals necessary or convenient to the successful completion of the project.

Complete sets of the bidding documents may be inspected at the issuing office, the Porter Co. Department of Development & Storm Water Management, 155 Indiana Ave., Ste. 311, Valparaiso, Indiana 46383, and, upon request, each prospective bidder may obtain one complete set of the bidding documents from the issuing office.

A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held at 11:00 a.m. local time on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at the Porter County Administration Center, 155 Indiana Ave., Conference Room 312, Valparaiso, Indiana 46383. All prospective bidders are encouraged to attend and participate in the meeting.

The Porter County Department of Development & Storm Water Management will receive bids for the project until 9:30 a.m. local time on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at the Office of the Auditor of Porter County, 155 Indiana Ave., Ste. 204, Valparaiso, Indiana 46383. Bids will be opened and read aloud on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at a meeting of the Porter Co. Board of Commissioners, to be held at 10:00 a.m. local time at the Porter County Administration Center, 155 Indiana Ave., Ste. 205, Valparaiso, Indiana 46383.
