SUBCONTRACTOR/SUPPLIER PREQUALIFICATION: Downes Construction Company, LLC is the Design Builder/Developer on behalf of the City of Bridgeport and the Bridgeport Library for the construction of the new Upper East Side Library on 2534 East Main Street, Bridgeport, Connecticut. The project consists of a new single-story neighborhood branch library of 7,000 square feet and related site improvements. Bidding will occur in early May 2021. Construction will commence in approximately July 2021 with completion in Spring 2022. We request that all firms, who are interested in this project, submit Subcontractor Prequalification Questionnaires via the link provided below. Defined scopes of work in the form of Bid Packages will be issued to invited bidders to include Sitework, Landscaping, Concrete, Masonry, Structural Steel & Misc. Metals, Arch. Woodwork, Roofing System, Roof Screen, Doors, Frames & Hardware, Alum. Entrances & Storefront, Gyp. Drywall & Acoustical Ceilings, Tiling, Flooring, Painting, Division 10, 11, 12, 13 items, HVAC System, Plumbing System, Electrical & Fire Alarm System and Final Cleaning. This prequalification process is intended to identify those contractors who may be invited to submit price proposals for the anticipated work listed above based on their individual qualifications as determined by Downes. This prequalification process shall in no way guarantee any subcontractor or supplier will be solicited for bidding and/or awarded a contract on this project. Performance and Payment bonds will be required for all major trades. Each Subcontractor will be required to make a good faith effort in reaching a goal of thirty (30) percent (15% MBE and 15% WBE) of the aggregate dollar value of their contract in hiring City of Bridgeport Certified M/WBE firms. Refer to the City of Bridgeport Minority Business Enterprise Program. All respondents to this prequalification process who perform work under the jurisdiction of the Local Carpenter’s Union must be signatory to that union.
