United States Stocks Open Mixed Friday June 9, 2023

United States of America – The Dow Jones fell nearly 50 points on Friday, as the S&P 500 crept marginally higher after entering bull market territory the day before, and the Nasdaq gained 0.5%. Investors are avoiding large wagers ahead of the important US CPI report and the FOMC meeting next week. On the business front, Tesla shares rose about 6%, while General Motors rose more than 5%, after the latter’s announcement that it will utilize Tesla technology to charge its electric vehicles. Target shares fell more than 1% after Citigroup analysts downgraded their rating. So far this week, the Dow is up 0.2%, the S&P 500 is up about 0.3%, marking the fourth consecutive week of gains, and the Nasdaq is little changed.
