Core Inflation Rate Ticks Up Month Over Month

Washington D.C. – In August 2021, the CPI for all items excluding food and energy increased by 0.1 percent from a month earlier, the weakest increase since February and below market estimates of a 0.3 percent increase.
Along with the indexes for home operations and shelter, August saw increases in the indexes for new vehicles, recreation, and medical care.
All of the month’s indexes for airline fares, used cars and trucks, and motor vehicle insurance decreased.
