Notice is hereby given that, on behalf of the Porter Co. Storm Water Management Board, the Porter Co. Department of Development & Storm Water Management is seeking sealed bids for the project designated as Kemper Ditch, Arm 15 – Drain Tile Reconstruction. The project is located within the drainage easement associated with Kemper Ditch, Arm 15, primarily on the parcel commonly known as 1315 N 375 E, Chesterton, Indiana 46304. The project is located in Section 27, Township 37 North, Range 5 West, in Pine Township, Porter County, Indiana.

The project consists of the installation of a new drain tile system to replace a failed drain tile system. The overall purpose of the project is to enhance the drainage and storm water management services provided to the surrounding property owners by improving the area’s storm water infrastructure.

The project generally includes the installation of drain tile, via open trench construction, and the installation of storm sewer structures. The project also includes road cut and repair work as needed to install the new drain tile across CR 375 E. It also includes other items incidental to the work including the creation and maintenance of a temporary construction entrance and construction access routes, including the use of timber access mats within delineated wetland areas, and the restoration of all areas disturbed during the performance of the work. Excess excavated material generated during the performance of the work is to be disposed of off-site, at an appropriate and, if applicable, properly permitted off-site location. The work includes the carrying out of all duties and obligations and the furnishing of all labor, material, tools, equipment, and other incidentals necessary or convenient to the successful completion of the project.

Complete sets of the bidding documents may be inspected at the issuing office, the Porter Co. Department of Development & Storm Water Management, 155 Indiana Ave., Ste. 311, Valparaiso, Indiana 46383, and, upon request, each prospective bidder may obtain one complete set of the bidding documents from the issuing office.

A pre-bid meeting was held at 10:00 a.m. local time on Thursday, February 3, 2022, via videoconference, due to a weather-related office closure. Copies of the agenda and minutes from the pre-bid meeting and any addenda are or will be available for download on the Porter County Department of Development & Storm Water Management’s website at http://www.portercountystormwater.org.

Per Addendum #2, the Porter Co. Department of Development & Storm Water Management will now receive bids for the project until 10:00 a.m. local time on Thursday, February 24, 2022, at the Porter Co. Department of Development & Storm Water Management, 155 Indiana Ave., Ste. 311, Valparaiso, Indiana 46383. Bids will be opened and read aloud on Thursday, February 24, 2022, at a public opening of bids, to be held at 10:00 a.m. local time, or as soon as possible thereafter, at the Porter Co. Department of Development & Storm Water Management, 155 Indiana Ave., Ste. 311, Valparaiso, Indiana 46383. In accordance with the Department’s COVID-19 Safety & Action Plan, the public opening of bids will also be conducted live via videoconference. All bidders, as well as members of the public, are welcome to attend the opening of bids, either in person or via

videoconference.
